Saint-Urcize & the Aubrac

A destination for every season

At around 1,000 metres above sea level, Saint-Urcize overlooks the Hère and Bès valleys. The village, listed as a Petite Cité de Caractère, reveals itself through its lanes, old houses, fountains and Romanesque church.

All around, the Aubrac unfolds its high plateaus, pastures, forests and burons — traditional mountain huts. A living landscape, shaped by livestock farming and tradition, where the seasons transform every stay.

And after a day outdoors, what better way to round it off than with aligot, truffade, a piece of Laguiole AOP cheese or a fine cut of Aubrac beef?

The Aubrac, season by season

Nature is never far away

Saint-Urcize and its heritage, hiking trails, Laguiole, waterfalls, the Truyère gorges or the hot springs of Chaudes-Aigues: the Aubrac's highlights are all close at hand. But the Aubrac can also be enjoyed without any plan at all.

In spring

The meadows regain their colours, the trails open up for walkers and the landscape comes alive as the herds return to the summer pastures.

In summer

The season for long hikes, cycling, picnics, waterfalls and days spent in the open air.

In autumn

The forests change colour and the Aubrac takes on a particularly peaceful atmosphere, ideal for walks and food discoveries.

In winter

The landscape is blanketed in snow and the Saint-Urcize resort welcomes fans of skiing, snowshoeing, sledging and Nordic activities.

Your best memories

“We were a group of 12 and had a great stay. The house is very spacious and tastefully restored. The highlight is the sauna overlooking the Aubrac and the Nordic hot tub, so pleasant after a day outdoors. Highly recommended!”
